Almira is a Senior Chemical Engineering major and Business minor from Coppell, Texas. In addition to being Co-Director of EMC, she is also the Public Relations Officer on Swaram A Cappella and teaches ENGR 216/217 lab. She has previously interned at Entegris as a Research and Development Engineer and at Dexcom as a Process Sustaining Engineer. Furthermore, she is a campus ambassador for the Ismaili Student Network where she helps host various events and connect members throughout campus. Outside of school, her interests include painting & spending time in nature. She is so excited to meet and work with all the new mentors and mentees!

Shadaab Shirazi is a Senior Biomedical Engineering major pursuing a minor in Electrical Engineering from San Antonio, TX. His academic interests include bioelectronics, data analysis, and biotechnology. He has previously worked on a multi-department research project to develop a device that will allow rapid and sensitive detection of airborne bacteria and viruses in aerosol samples. Shadaab is also an ambassador for the College of Biomedical Engineering and loves interacting with prospective students who want to pursue engineering in the future. This past summer, he interned for Cardinal Health where he got to work on a variety of medical products. Other than academics, Shadaab loves music, movies, sports, and researching random topics.

Treasurer

Arpit is a Senior Civil Engineering major with a Construction Management track from Houston, TX. Arpit joined EMC as a freshman and he was a mentor for his sophomore and junior years. Currently, he is pursuing a Co-op at Kiewit Offshore Services this Fall. One fun fact about Arpit is that he grew up in India and he is trilingual! He loves to talk about Aggie football, NBA, NFL, and Cricket. He also plays these sports as well as play video games with his friends in his free time. Arpit is excited to welcome mentees and mentors this year!

Jeremy is a Senior Nuclear Engineering student with a Minor in Mathematics from Bremond, TX. He plans on either going to get his PhD in engineering or pursuing Law School once his undergraduate degree is complete. Jeremy joined EMC as a mentor in the Fall of 2021. One interesting fact about him is that he played collegiate tennis at his previous University, Mary Hardin-Baylor. He is very excited to be Secretary for the upcoming semester and looks forward to helping the future engineers at Texas A&M University.

Mentorship

Caroline is a senior Architectural Engineering student from San Antonio, Texas. She got involved with the EMC her Freshman year as a mentee. Her involvement in the club brought her the support and guidance she hopes that the mentors under her care will continue on to the next year of engineering students. Caroline is a part of a research team with a focus on traffic design and safety. When she's not in class or doing homework, Caroline is swimming laps or working on her crocheting, sewing, knitting, or embroidery projects.

Thisara Samarasekara is a Senior Electrical Engineering student from Temple, Texas. His academic interests include microelectronics, control systems, digital system design, and signal processing. Thisara joined EMC as a mentor during his junior year and then joined the leadership team. He loves interacting with up-and-coming engineering students and helping them discover their passions in engineering. Thisara was born and raised in Sri Lanka and moved to the US. Outside of school, he loves running, playing video games, cricket and martial arts. Thisara is looking forward to help EMC continue its positive impact in engineering at Texas A&M.

Brenna Spillmann is a super senior studying ocean engineering with a focus on coastal engineering and a minor in project management. She is from the northern San Antonio area in Kendalia, Texas. Other than being the social officer for EMC, she is a member of Mentoring Ocean Engineers (MOE), where those who are already in the field have an opportunity to mentor students and MTS/Sname, a professional organization for ocean engineers. This last summer, she was involved in an internship with McCarthy Building Company, where she helped a team build a new wharf for the Port of Houston. Her interests include hanging out with friends, crafting, and attending Texas A&M events! Her goal is to help any incoming freshmen have the best experience possible!
