WHAT IS EMC?

The Engineering Mentorship Council is a student-led mentoring organization focused on providing freshmen engineering students with the necessary tools and guidance to have the most successful first year at Texas A&M University. We do this by matching a small group of freshmen students with two experienced sophomore, junior, or senior mentors. These mentor groups meet weekly so that the mentors can provide knowledgeable advice to their freshmen, such as how to prepare for finals, how to manage your time, how to build your resume, and much more!

EMC maintains mentors from many different engineering majors. The mentor groups have meeting times spread throughout the week, so as a freshmen "mentee", you get to choose which mentor group you would like to join based on when you are available and who you would like to be your mentors! You can see a list of our current mentors by clicking the MENTORSHIP tab above!

EMC also participates in multiple social and service events throughout each semester in order to better ourselves and our community. Previous events include Big Event and Aggie Relay for Life!

MESSAGE FROM THE FOUNDER

The EMC was originally formed in 2017 as a way to give back and provide big brothers and sisters to freshmen engineers just trying to learn their way. I learned in my 4.5 years of college that some of your most meaningful relationships are with those who have walked in your shoes before, and this club gives freshmen the opportunity to build them very early on in their college years. In the past 2.5 years, this club has led many younger engineers to succeed in acquiring internships, receiving on campus leadership positions, and just generally guiding themselves through the gauntlet that is being an Aggie Engineer. With each new iteration, the club becomes more and more impactful, and I am excited to say that this year will be no different. We started out as a club of 10 classmates leading about 30 or so freshmen in weekly discussions about school, and now the club is sponsored and has many more resources to help young engineers shine! Joining this club will be one of the most impactful things you do in your time at A&M, and I can't wait to hear about its future success stories!
